Hundreds of Cats Come to Richmond Area to Compete for Top Cat
Fancy felines from around the country will have the opportunity to earn Top Cat status at the Cat Fanciers' Association Cat Southern Dixie Cat Club Allbreed Cat show. The cat show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 18 & 19, 2015 (9 am-4:00 pm ) at the Gay Community Center 14017 Sherwood Ave in Richmond, Va.
Hundreds of pedigreed cats are expected to compete in this year’s show. This year we are featuring the sacred cat of BIrma: the Birman. There will be many other beautiful breeds as well including the racy Cornish Rex, gigantic Maine Coon Cat, Exotic Egyptian Maus, active Japanese Bobtails as well as some of the more well-known breeds, Siamese and Persian. Household pets will also compete under all six judges to be the best house cat.
The CFA cat show will be open to the public and will provide an entertaining day for spectators. In addition to the judging activities, which will take place throughout the show, spectators will have the opportunity to see cats “up close and in the fur” while they are waiting to compete. Owners are happy to answer questions about their cats and many of them will offer kittens for sale.
Admission is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors and children. Coupons are available at www.emaucats.com/sdcc.htm. The SDCC/SEPS/NBF show is sanctioned by the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA). CFA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of cats. CFA was founded in 1906 and is the world’s largest registry of pedigree cats with affiliated clubs producing more than 325 shows a year.
